Storyboarding

Before we begun to shoot our title sequence for our film, we had to first plan out how we would want each part of the sequence to appear. Me Kate and Lucy each had to research into what order the titles appear roughly, as they do not all follow the same pattern.

After we looked into the title sequences, we decided we should all contribute to the drawing of the story boarding. Lucy and Kate did most of the drawing, due to being good drawers, and I contributed a little bit towards the end - as you can see.

Once we planned and drew out our ideas, we then added in the important details, which were the camera movements, timings, music, dialogue and more. This would be useful when we begin filming, to make sure we do not over do certain scenes, and make sure we do not forget how we would want it to look, and most importantly, make sure it looks reasonably okay before we film it. Each of us contributed by doing different sheets each, as we had five sheets at the end of it all.

Foley Sound

In today's lesson, we did a practical, where we had to go out and create foley sound's with various objects: such as melons, nuts, celery and so on. We made foley sound to accompany our fight sequences, which we filmed for homework, to gain a better understanding of how foley sound works, and to improve the sound quality to make it more dramatic.

Working in groups, me Kate and Lucy took turns in creating noises to use in our fight sequence, and each taking turns to record the noises. We then took the noises and edited our videos, by adding in the sounds to certain parts in the sequence.

More Pitches

In this lesson, we continued with the pitch of our films, and watched as other groups did their pitches, and have them recorded to place up on our blogs.

We were again asked to write down what works well, what needs improving and what does not work at all. We then had to share the feedback verbally to the class, to help other groups gain an understanding on what they could do to make their film ideas better, and what they have done good so far.

Pitching Our Film

In this lesson, we had to present what our film idea, which was completed in the previous lesson. We had to get in our groups, and had to pitch our film idea to the class, just like an actual film pitch. We pretended as if they class were a film studio, who would be interested in a new film idea, and have it recorded to put up on our blogs.

My group of Kate, Lucy and me pitched our idea for a film named hypnosis. We each had our own sections to read out loud, sharing the responsibility and not leaving it all to one person

After the presentation, we received positive and negative feedback to help us improve our film idea, and to see if we are heading in the right direction with our idea.

Film Pitch Prep

In this lesson, we had to have a better understanding of what our film will be about, and have a vague idea on what the title sequence may look like. We begun to look at good and bad film pitches and get an understanding of how they are done, and what we would have to do if we was to do one.

We then had to prepare for a presentation for our film pitch to present to the class for the next lesson. Using a PowerPoint on the good and bad of film pitches, and how to structure them, me, Lucy and Kate had to make our own presentation using www.prezi.com

Each of us took a role in the making of our prezi. Kate was the one who typed out the prezi, and  took note of information to add on to it. Lucy helped with the design of the prezi, and designed a logo, and how it will appear on our title sequence by making it animated, which we could use in future development of the film. Finally, I assisted Kate, by researching the information, such as other films and how much they made, and we all selected parts we would wish to read out.

Idea For The Film

In today's lesson, we had to get into a groups in which we decided to go with. In my group is Lucy, Kate and myself. We each had to do an idea for a film for homework, which had us list characters, codes and conventions of films, the title, inspiration for film, narrative and other elements.

Once in our groups, each person had to share their idea for the film they came up with, and then we had to decide which of the films shared we would use for our title sequence. Each one of us had solid ideas for films we would like to do. Lucy had an idea for a film about a serial killer hairdresser, whilst Kate came up with the idea of a serial killer who works for the police and kidnaps a child. My idea was about a serial killer who can control their victims mind and make them do sinister things. All of our film ideas were in the genre of horror making the decision a little easier to make.

At the end of the lesson, with he help of Miss Whitaker we decided to go along with my film idea, as it gave us the good ideas for a title sequence and we all liked the idea.

Synopsis

In this lesson, we analysed a title sequence from the film The Game, by jotting down what we thought the settings, themes, iconography, narrative and style were just by the sequence aka stincs, then viewing the trailer to see if what we thought still remained the same.

We also had to write own our synopsis for our made up film, and share our synopsis for our film idea to the rest of the class. W had to write it down on a sheet, and swap it with another group and then list the iconography we would associate with the film, and what we would expect to see within the film and also identify the genre we thought the film was.

We were also set the task to set up, shoot and edit a fight sequence, featuring various camera angles and shots, ready for next week.
